Cheery Blackcapped Chickadees

7x9 mixed media on Masters Touch 80 lb paper done last weekend, an imaginary bird painting featuring three blackcapped chickadees amongst snowy icy branches. I first at random brushed matte medium on the page, let it dry, then pencil sketched in the watercolor birds. White gouache was used to splatter over the cerulean and ultramarine blue background, and also to enhance the snow and ice clumps on the pine branches. COPYRIGHT 2023 Kay Smith
