Apple Crisp

Leftover Pear

Free Lunches mixed media collage

5.5x8 mixed media collage on pink archival art paper done today during our Odessa Art Association meeting where we were given supplies and about 30 minutes or less to make something.  I used washi tape, special deckle edge scissors, magazine and book clippings, scrapbook paper, children's book page, and food advertisements.  It was my first time to use washi tape; you can see it in two different patterns along the bottom and sides.

#InkTober day 28 ~ Pear Group

6x9 ink and watercolor on Canson 140 lb cold press paper done today for day 28 of #InkTober, a yearly challenge for artists to do one work per day in ink.  My favorite pen is Pigma Micron 01 by Sakura that makes a very fine line.  These pears will be featured on WetCanvas current weekend drawing event.  It has been awhile since I've painted any of them.  These works with watercolor and ink used to draw outlines is called ink and line wash work.

Granny Smith Apple

4.5x6.5 acrylic markers on brown sketchbook paper done today from life.  I did not eat the Granny Smith green apple this morning so sketched it instead with Micron 01 pen then added Montana markers of various acrylic colors of green, yellow, blue, dark blue, white and red.  Lettering is using the Curlz font that I'm practicing doing with illustrated journaling.

Two Apples sketch

5x7.5 mixed media on Moleskine sketchbook done today.  In Sketchbook Skool part of the Fabio's assignment homework was to depict an object from life but draw with both hands.  With a fresh red apple, I used a Micron 01 pen, then colored pencils around the tops.  The right apple was first followed by the lefthanded drawn one.  A bite was taken out for interest and because I was hungry.  Watercolor was next using Grumbacher red, alizarin crimson, transparent pyrrol orange, gamboge, quinacridones gold an violet.  Text applied last then splatters.  It wasn't too difficult to draw and paint lefthanded as I'm ambidextrous anyway.  The righthanded apple is fatter, though.

Trio of Pears "Tree-O"

15x22 watercolor of three pears, an older one that was a demo for a local art group.  Colors were imaginary letting the paint dictate which way to run and mix in a fun combination.  Title is "Tree-O".

Pear No. 2 - torn paper collage

9x6 torn paper collage on matboard drawn and begun yesterday then finished up a few hours ago.  Since it is only my second pear collage and I stuck the numeral 2 in its midsection, it had to have that designation.  A furniture leg is its stem and I really like the sneaky way a tater tot appeared below the numeral, food is food, right? I've posted the first pear below here.

6x6 watercolor done today of imaginary wild berries.  First drawn with Pigma Micron 01 pen in my sketchbook, then on to watercolor with 1-2 applications of Daniel Smith paints.

Partnership pears

11x15 watercolor pair of pears, a demo for yesterday's students in which we were exploring the properties of watercolor on hot press paper, Fabriano 140 lb.  The Bosc pear is darker red in reality and note the other's lost edge where light hits its right upper edge.
