Dalmations Playing Fetch

8.5x5.5 watercolor and Micron 01 pen on Masters sketchbook done yesterday, another in my playing dogs series.  These two have a stick and are running along in shallow beach water.  "Labs Playing Fetch" was the first one of similar composition and that one is sold a few years ago.

Pippa's Not Asleep

Henry Boston Terrier

8.5x5.5 liquid pencil in sepia by Derwent, a graphic sketch using a brush of another artist's dog.  This was painted earlier in the month and is the second time I have painted her Boston terrier.  The Derwent set of liquid pencil has permanent properties but this sepia tone is not; it lifts right up if you make a mistake and is designed to resemble lead pencil.

Lap of Luxury dog

Happy Hound

8.5x6 watercolor drawn yesterday and painting begun, then finished this morning before work.  In between commissions, shows, traveling, marketing, and other exhibits (mostly out of town) I'm busy doing a pet portrait daily to post on our dog and cat Tumblr blog, Bowwows and Meows.  Lately I've been experimenting using a nose from one breed and ears from a different animal and/or fur and hair colors.  The small portraits are designed to show an unusual angle or composition.  Support used here is ColorSketch paper with Daniel Smith pigments and is lightly tinted a pale yellow.
