Christmas Tree Truck

5.5x8.5 watercolor and ink (Micron 01 pen) on Masters sketchbook done today of an old pickup truck hauling a cut evergreen Christmas tree.  The tree has been strung with large colored old fashioned light bulbs and is on its way to help celebrate the season.

Midnight Christmas Tree

10.25x9 mixed media imaginary Christmas tree, brush only, so no pencil drawing first.  I used watercolor, gouache, white wax crayon, black India ink, Inktense watersoluble colored pencils on paper.  Paint colors used were Payne's gray, indigo, thalo green, alizarin crimson, Grumbacher red.  Inktense was green.  Splatters were done with both the cool red (alizarin) and warm red (Grumbacher).  White designer's gouache was applied at the end over the pale gray background.

Chickadee in a Christmas Tree

10.25x9 watercolor done today.  It is my version of a little chickadee removed from his post he was perched on in the WetCanvas reference, and placed in a loose, splashy tree.  No brush was used, just spritzed paper with water and added several greens, then sprayed sap green in a mister, splattered white gouache, let dry, then with a no. 1 rigger brush, put the darks in his head and wings by negative painting.

Candy Cane - a Christmas still life

12x9 watercolor on Strathmore 140 lb cold press paper, drawn today using Magic Pencil (colored pencil) then quickly laying in wet mixtures of greens using Prussian blue and UB plus arylide yellow and quinacridone gold. I also used undersea green by Daniel Smith. Candy canes are the cheapest decoration you can find probably but always enjoy seeing their fresh red and white swirls on a green tree.

Evergreen Edges

7x6 watercolor and crayon on Lanaquarelle 140 lb hot press paper, another imaginary forest trees in a series.  This one was done today and included a decorated evergreen for Christmas.  Merry Christmas to all of you and a happy good night!

Quilted Christmas Tree - a card a day

10x8 watercolor pieces cut out from old failed works then adhered to white heavy cardstock. I used a black fine tip Sharpie pen to draw "stitches" zigzag marks to mimic sewing for this holiday quilt tree.

Under the Tree - a card a day project

Yesterday I began the start of this new one then finished up today in a Christmas card a day endeavor am not sure I can do for 25 more days! It measures 5.75 x 7.25 inches on Strathmore paper.
