Heartwarming Hibiscus

11x15 watercolor on Masters 140 lb cold press paper done today.  I mixed all the reds and yellows together to get a variation of hues for this beautiful flower.  This was for an online timed painting challenge as hosted by artist Valri.

Wheelbarrow Whispers

11x15 watercolor done today on Kilimanjaro 140 lb cold press paper, an imaginary garden scene except for my old wooden wheelbarrow.  Flowering geranium pots are inside it while towering hollyhocks, poppies, hibiscus, petunias, and marigolds surround it all.

Hibiscus Hummingbird

11x15 watercolor painted yesterday featuring red and yellow hibiscus I had bought.  Before long this little fellow was buzzing around to get a taste of nectar.  Hummingbirds seem to know when you have flowers that they might enjoy.  As yesterday was the first day of summer I thought everyone might enjoy seeing a hummer.

Heavenly Hibiscus

16x13.25 watercolor on Italia 140 lb soft press paper, drawn and painted yesterday in a loose, splashy manner with a #12 synthetic round Robert Simmons brush.  Daniel Smith paints were used, primarily quinacridones coral and magenta, transparent pyrrol orange, green gold, undersea green, carbazole violet, alizarin and ultramarine blue.  Others used were fuchsia, permanent rose by Da Vinci.
