Tulip Tapestry

15x22 watercolor over a weekend, a totally imaginary Spring scene.  I had a new nursery garden catalog which had a tulip with these dark blue/purple centers inside green topped with brilliant reds, called 'poppy tulips'.  Butterflies or moths circle gently over the tulip garden against the stark white background.  Support used 140 lb cold press paper.

Glad about Glads - WIP finished

22x15 watercolor completed today after two more hours on this work in progress (WIP) from yesterday.  I really like how the multicolored gladiolus, bunched together in a single dark blue pot, are so vibrant and Spring-like.  We can be inspired anyway until Spring really does happen.  Paper is Italia acquerello 140 lb cold press sold by Dick Blick which is perfect for florals.

Tuxedo Tulips

18x14 watercolor of three imaginary tulips painted awhile back that is SOLD.
With this one, I had placed tall green leaves behind the blooms and they were not very prominent, so I made a mixed black (alizarin + thalo green) and darkened the background.  Still visible are tiny specks of other colors.

Apricot Irises

11x7.5 watercolor on 140 lb cold press Langton paper, a demo begun yesterday for one of my art classes, then finished today.  This is a scan so colors appear more orange than they are.
