Traveling Woman

12x9 mixed media collage a fairly recent face sketch I took out yesterday and updated.  The other version did not have her black hair showing at all so this was added with India ink.  Other media used was watercolor and acrylics with postage stamps and a figure as collage elements.

Ecuadorian Dancers

22x30 mixed media on Arches 140 lb hot press paper done today in a timed WetCanvas event.  Participants had two hours to complete a painting and the challenge from host Susan was to work larger than you usually do.  Media consisted of watercolor, oil pastels, white gel pen, and Montana acrylic markers.  Background is a mix of palette colors that formed a neutral grey brown.

The Gwins

8.5x5.5 mixed media on Bienfang sketchbook finished today.  This is Linda Gwin and her husband Myron sketched with black Tombow pen.  Greys were simply water added to the black ink.  I used Montana acrylic markers on her black sweater and for the hot orange background; watercolor used to paint her colorful blouse.  They attended the Art on the Llano Estacado show I was in last week. I love his wild tropical Hawaiian shirt.  Since I needed a couple to draw for Sketchbook Skool the Gwins were selected.

Romance

12x9 mixed media (acrylics, ink, paper transfers) on Crescent matboard started yesterday and finished today.
It's a disaster but I had fun! I used gloss medium and varnish over acrylic painted areas that I'd used paper round doily on, then quickly pulled up. The figures are from an old Victorian catalog cover and bottom right a new Dick Blick sale book cover; black lines from an inkjet print of my cosmos...it was too old a copy and so lines did not all come off. When dry, I went back in with pink acrylic and lightly brushed in paint where top layer of the mat had peeled off.  This painting is featured on WetCanvas Mixed Media/Alternative Materials forum for May, where we practiced different photo transfer methods.

Sexpots and Sirens

7x10 gouache and ink (Pigma Micron 01 and Sharpie felt tip) on Canson mixed media paper drawn and painted this afternoon, the second in my new women series.  On the left we have the brunettes and blondes on the right for a total of 5 femme fatales.  I did not intend to separate them.  I like the Latina lower bottom left as she is the prettiest.  The blonde in blue short jumpsuit is a sexpot for sure.  Total fun!
