Gaillardia Garden

15x22 watercolor on 140 lb cold press paper, an imaginary scene of red Texas wildflowers known as gaillardias.  In this complementary color scheme I've paired reds with greens for a vibrant visual feast.
This work is SOLD.

Great Goldfinch

8.5x5.5 watercolor and ink line on Bienfang for mixed media done weekend before last, a small one I painted for the Miniatures forum on WetCanvas.  Photo ref courtesy Virginia.  These gaillardia wildflowers are one of my favorites and they were blooming when I was doing this one in the moutains.

Gaillardias Galore - watermedia floral

15x22 gouache watermedia on 140 lb hot press paper that is now SOLD!
Gouache paints are by Winsor Newton and are watercolors with white added; in the olden days the medium was referred to as body color.
Flowers are from photos of my own gaillardias but background and foreground are imaginary with lots of negative painting.

Sombrero
