Sweet Eyes Puppy

Frida ~ mixed media collage

14x11 mixed media acrylic collage on matboard using a previous painting of Frida Kahlo that is 8.5x5. This was adhered to the red mat board support with medium paste then an acrylic abstract was cut into equal strips for border mat.  The strips were collaged as well for an altogether different look.

Old Lace & Apples

5x7 watercolor on Magnani Italia paper 140 lb cold press, an imaginary still life of two apples and old lace. I decided to make the background black and this was achieved by mixing alizarin crimson + phthalo green. The highlights on the fruit were left the white of the paper in this miniature.

Mad Cow

10.25x9 mixed media on paper, another in my weird cow series. Media used: Watercolor, Staedtler Calligraph Duo 3.5mm pen, white gelly roll ink pen, black India ink, light blue Montana acrylic marker (background), and white gouache.Working from black and white photocopy all color is imaginary for this Hereford.   I tried to keep the values correct and put small bursts of colors here and there such as ultramarine blue and cadmium orange for this whimsical farm animal.

Leaning Barn

Black Horse
