Redbud Trees abstract

5x7 alcohol inks on paper done a few days ago.  With a wooden chopstick in the wet ink, I pulled lines upwards to resemble tree branches in this abstract piece.

Bikini

3.75x5.25 alcohol ink monochromatic abstract done over the past weekend using only one color:  Eggplant.  I like how it separated into different hues once alcohol 91% and blending solution was applied.  I could see a bikini on a woman, her chest, torso, neck, and bottom of her chin.  Also the blue hue and dots could be splashy water as it is the first day of summer today June 21.

4x6 alcohol inks on professional photo paper; ink line is done with Micron 05 pen to show a few areas in this abstract pumpkin.  This jack o' lantern appears to be on fire and melting with its snaggletooth mouth smiling.  It was painted for #InkTober where participants pledge to do ink art once daily all of October.

Adrift

4x6 alcohol inks on professional photo paper done last week, another abstract using cool colors of Willow, Indigo, and Stream.  This reminds me of water and seaweed and goes along with our current Texas hurricane.  Pray for continued safety for all.

Total Eclipse of the Sun

3.75x5 alcohol inks on professional photo paper done today as part of a short demo and also because of the total eclipse of the sun witnessed by our country.  For this miniature painting I used primaries of gold, red, and blue.

Seahunt

9x12 alcohol inks on paper done partly yesterday and finished today; also I added black India ink for the darkest dark.  Blending solution was dripped onto the black area to cause separation and this can be seen clearer if you click on the image.  I scattered 91% alcohol droplets all over to indicate water bubbles.  No reference was used or any drawing for this abstract that reminds me of seaweed or kelp underwater.  Here I've used 4 different green inks:  Willow, Botanical, Lime, and Forest.

Indigo Sea Life

9.5x10.5 alcohol inks on paper completed yesterday which was an exercise in use of cool hues.  I used indigo, green, aqua, teal, and turquoise blue.  This resembles what the ocean floor might look like in a world all its own no one will see, a vast composition of seaweed, kelp, coral and shells.

2x3.5 alcohol inks on slick card stock, a miniature abstract painting using two reds and a blue, done for Leslie Saeta's 30 in 30 challenge.  Only six days left and I'm on a roll.  For this I used two red inks:  Watermelon and Sangria and the blue is Aqua.

#InkTober day 17 ~ Petals upon Petals alcohol inks

7x7 alcohol inks on 3/18" white foamcore done for day 17 today of #InkTober.  An annual challenge, artists across the globe are pledging and promising to do one work in ink per day during October.  I love the warm fall colors this abstract floral has and the undertones seen as faint blues are amazing things alcohol inks can do.  Always a surprise, the inks are fun and stress-free, with no required pencil drawing beforehand.  Just drop by drop create interesting patterns and mixtures; if you don't like it simply douse with 91% rubbing alcohol and start over.

Urban Pigeon ~ alcohol ink

7.75x8.5 alcohol ink in black on foamcore with white gel pen pigeon sketch done today.  This is the same bird used yesterday.  Already I had splattered the ink and spritzed with alcohol to make it run, just experimenting with black on white, and thought the large drip blob lower left looked like bird droppings.  It is interesting to see the colors within black ink as it separated out, some blues and reds in there.  Definitely an urban feel to this bird painting.

Firestorm ~ alcohol ink abstract

4x6 alcohol inks on professonal high gloss photo paper done today with repeated applications of the Jacquard Pinata inks.  With alcohol 50% spritzed and dropped on the surface the initial magenta and blue mixed to form a dark purple.  I've let it remain in upper right corner while washing away most of the other abstract pattern as it was too dark.  Some areas simply coagulated then floated off the very slick paper, which are the lights seen.  In those, I dropped yellow then blew the color around with a drinking straw.  Also I used a plastic dropper for finer alcohol spots.
