Tulip Pot

12x9 watercolor drawn with a black colored pencil on a scrap sheet I use to put under other works in progress.  This is a combination painting and sketch and I like its simplicity.

Pansies, Violas and Spade

5x7.5 watercolor floral still life vignette featuring a tiny clay pot of violas and/or pansies and an old gardening standby tool, the spade.  I painted this a few days ago while in the mountains on my Moleskine wc book, wishing warmer weather and rain would come for planting.  My old spade has seen brighter days but still gives its all while repotting or dividing plants.  The new plastic coated spade is just not the same.

Window Geraniums

11x6.5 watercolor, drawn with ink pen, Micron 01 Pigma, a couple of weeks ago.  I didn't post it then because we were busy painting Valentine hearts and other romantic things.  But, to me, a red geranium is just as important!

Green Wicker and Clay Goat

15x22 watercolor of my old pale green wicker patio chair with clay goat planter from New Mexico.  It held a pot that made fascinating shadow patterns across the chair back.  This painting was one of the first ones published in a book by Christopher Willard on color mixing, the 12-hue method by Rockport publishers.

White Cyclamen

22x15 watercolor of my white blooming cyclamen plant in sunny south studio window.  White subjects are my favorite to paint as you must inject color and muted tones within the white.  In watercolor you simply use the white of the paper and no white paint as in other mediums.
