Carriage Horses

5.5x8 watercolor done from some horse photos I'd been planning on using but just hadn't.  These two were hitched together to pull their owner's carriage around the city.  Support used is Strathmore Visual Journal for watercolor and pigments are Winsor Newton travel kit.  I used a #1 rigger or script liner brush on the animals then a #6 round for background foliage and street shadows.

Blond Horses

9x12 watercolor on Canson 140 lb cold press paper done today as part of WetCanvas Weekend Drawing Event.  We had 2 hours to choose a reference from host Li Newton then paint it so mine was done in a little over 1.5 hours.

Palomino Mare

10x7 mixed media on Canson Mixed Media XL paper (Dr Ph Martin's ink, watercolor, and gouache) of a lovely palomino mare whose mane is long and flowing.  This was started yesterday and completed today.

Palomino Horse

6x6 watercolor and ink line wash, a macro view of a palomino complete with a white star on his forehead.  This was done in my new sketchbook with Pigma Micron 01 pen last week for a daily sketch.

Flying Hooves

Enough of the snow scenes already. Let's see some yellow green grass and galloping horses stirring up dusty roads! This watercolor is 9x6 inches on Arches 140 lb cold press paper. I especially like the white guy who is their leader and the sunlit side versus the shadow side. The sorrels and palomino fellows are just supporting actors.
