Countryside Barn

11x6.5 watercolor on Saunders 140 lb cold press paper, done the second day of Tim Oliver's workshop held at the Midland Palette Club on March 23-25. (Ref courtesy of instructor). Using mostly Daniel Smith paints this was done wet on dry using lots of water with large mop brush. I enjoyed painting this old barn and farm setting located somewhere in west Texas. Winter's First Day

Some snow is evident on the surrounding trees, roofline, and foreground. I used an old black and white barn photo kept for many years so all color is made up. Geese Gossip

6.25x9 watercolor on #CansonPaper 140 lb cold press done today as part of a timed weekend drawing event on WetCanvas.com Photo ref courtesy of host Tanja. For the background I first stamped paint on a grasscloth piece and stamped its pattern. When dry I put color glazes in green, brown, and blue tones over that. With simple subjects a patterned background is a must. My total time was about an hour out of the allotted 2 hour limit. COPYRIGHT 2020 Kay Smith

Old Country Church

Artists have a 2 hour time limit to select an image and then paint or draw their choice. If not done then they are to post the unfinished work in progress at the 2 hour mark. Red Barn Chickens
