10.5x8.5 acrylics on dark pink matboard done today to herald the first day of Spring! So glad it has arrived and was long awaited. Although I looked at a blooming rose this resembles a tulip more. Painted with only a 1.5" brush there was not any detail to be had. To paint with that size or larger brush (any subject) was part of a WetCanvas monthly challenge in the acrylic forum. Actual time about 20 minutes.

Cottage Geraniums
5.25 x 4 acrylic, an experiment done yesterday. I used a scrap of tan matboard and covered with 1 coat gloss medium. Let dry, then drew geraniums in a windowsill with Pigma Micron 01 pen. For lace curtains, I used a tiny paper stencil, then brushed dilute white acrylic into its holes. Next painted the white window frame and sill, then the 3 pots of red and pink geraniums. With very dilute mix of red, blue, and green I lightly did sides of the house and below sill. In between curtains you can see the original mat color. Title of it is "Cottage Geraniums". A good experiment. I'll try watercolor or gouache next with GM coated mat for a Yupo-like effect.

Dark Red Amaryllis
32x22 acrylic on black paper, an older floral drawn from life that I just love and thought would share its vibrancy with you. It was drawn carefully with pastel crayon then painted in; some areas are outlined in black acrylic.
