I was taking a wc workshop at the Hill Country Arts Foundation at that time and took several photos of the various buildings. Daniel Smith paints were used. Blue Shutters Red Geraniums

Featuring red geraniums, this floral captures the welcome home vibe that only these flowers can generate in their clay pot and stone walls. Weathered blue shutters add to its charm. Two Story White House

8x6 watercolor on paper done yesterday over a pencil sketch for a timed online weekend drawing event on WetCanvas. I have not done a house portrait in awhile so this was fun (no ruler). Cottage Garden

15x22 watercolor on 140 lb cold press Saunders paper, an imaginary garden scene with its varied shadows and secrets. I first painted this in 2002 in a wet in wet manner so here it is again just in time for spring planting. It has shutters, picket fence, and hanging baskets, all that anyone needs. Studio

Charming Chair

22x15 watercolor on 140 lb cold press Saunders done several years ago from my front studio porch photo. I'd just bought several geraniums and annuals to plant in the window boxes and set them in the antique chair.  This work was SOLD afterwards and the customer also bought the old chair.  I kept the plants.

Studio

5x7.5 watercolor on 140 lb Saunders paper done en plein air when I first planted roses at my studio south wall. I had a wooden cut out of three white ducks with a stake that is in front for garden art, then I lettered Roses on a wooden vent cover under the window.  The trim then was red with purple shutters and now is fuchsia pink trim with pale green shutters and a buttery cream painted stucco.

Shutters in Belize

22x15 watercolor painted from photos I took while in Belize City; this old white wooden house had been let go and run down as were most of the older stately homes and mansions the British built.  Its fence also was trying to hold on with tall spindly white pickets guarding the secrets within.  Palm fronds and tropical flowering bushes nicely framed a lone green shuttered window.
