Pear Shenanigans

6×6 watercolor plus ink using STA Lictin 0.2 pen on Masters Touch 80 lb sketchbook paper done over the weekend in under an hour. I sketched its outline in pencil, then placed 3 round colored adhesive dots at bottom and top. Next I coated them with matte medium and let dry a few minutes, lifting them off. Then paint was added but the round areas didn’t do much resist. Splatters at random using several colors was done. When dry some were outlined in ink as was the fruit itself for a little patterning. Yellow Pear on Orange Tablecloth

6x4 mixed media on 140 lb cold press wc paper done last week, the second in a short pear and apple series in miniature postcard size. Brusho watercolor crystals were used to color in the pear, white oil pastel to sketch it, India ink outline when dry, and acrylic Montana marker for the background along with liquid acrylics. Mysterious Pear

12x9 Brusho watermedia painted today, modeled after my October pear done in acrylics while in Bob Burridge's class.  The more I play with Brusho (watercolor crystals) the more I admire its qualities and properties.  For the most part, it paints itself with a little guidance from water and a large brush.  Look closely to see color nuances; most was applied using black Brusho.
