Fractured Poppies

15x22 watercolor on 140 lb cold press Fabriano paper done last week using one of my pale pink poppy photos, sketching it, then adding various sizes of rectangles. Each division is its own painting. Poppy Cats

15x22 watercolor on 140 lb cold press paper, a painting using my fractured image style where various rectangles are marked on top of a pencil drawing.  Then each section is painted differently but the whole composition jives in the end.  These three cats belong to the owner who commissioned this unique pet portrait.  Flowers were also to be included so I chose poppies that would set off the neutral colors of the kitties.  This work is SOLD.

Radishes Riot

11x15 watercolor on Lanaquarelle 140 lb hot press paper completed today from my grocery store photo of radishes.  Some are white radishes. See other images below showing the pencil sketch and beginning painting that is divided into multiple rectangular sections.  Each area is its own little painting.

Shastas

22x30 watercolor on Arches 140 lb cold press paper, another one of my fractured images shown in divided vertical sections that together would make a whole.  I used one of my photographs of an orange yellow shasta daisy and cut it into fifths.  Then each part was drawn in pencil on corresponding area and painted as if each was its own painting.  Each vertical is a different measurement; no two are alike, but all are in scale.  I have done several of these and they always sell, probably due to uniqueness.

Valentine Palette Tulips

12x9 watercolor on 140 lb cold press paper, total 2 hours for a timed WetCanvas event this weekend. The old palette was used as a tool to divide into sections those tulips in front of and behind it, from a photo I shot in studio of red Valentine tulips.  It is fun to paint fractured images.

Mosaic Roses

22x15 watercolor on 140 lb cold press paper, a fractured floral bouquet still life.  Individual rectangles were drawn on top of roses and vase then each one painted with different colors.  I used a silk bunch of roses to draw from life for the most part and the peace roses were my fresh ones.  This work is SOLD.
