Red Raptor Irises in Oil

24x18 palette knife oil using Winsor Newton Artisan watersoluble paints on gessoed board. From a drawing I did from life of a purple iris I changed into red; this image shows a bit pink as it is more red actually. Sail Away ~ Happy 4th of July!

6x6 watercolor done today, a quick study of sailboats with their patriotic red, white, and blue colors. This was painted in Masters Touch 80 lb sketchbook and I used an old credit card to make the vertical rigging lines on the boats. COPYRIGHT 2024 Kay Smith

A Bearded Iris

15x11 watercolor on Saunders 140 lb cold press paper.  This pure white iris with its purple frilly edges shines bright in my artist's garden surrounded by warm colors of violet, magenta, orange, red, and gamboge.  Its fiery red orange center seems to be burning hot in spring sunshine.
