Another in my bicycle basket flowers series, I used several of my photos of bikes with their adorning floral bouquets. The white fence is a nice country scene backdrop for this parked bike. Bike Bucket Hydrangeas

5x3.5 watercolor on 140 lb Fabriano cold press paper sketched and painted today while waiting out the ice storm. Bike Blooms

8.5x5.5 watercolor and ink on Bienfang for mixed media sketchbook painted today.  A few days ago I drew the bike, basket of hydrangeas, and tree for Sketchbook Skool for a negative spaces sketch assignment.  This imaginary scene was done by only drawing between shapes, not an easy feat.

Ride a Red Bike

22x30 watercolor on Kilimanjaro 140 lb cold press finished yesterday, a bicycle illustration with a basket of dahlias added for this vignette.  I used a 3" flat brush for the background of thalo yellow green to set off the reds.  I needed to paint dahlias for a WetCanvas contest so using a bike and basket for them was perfect..

Bicycles Cats Flowers and 30 Paintings in 30 Days CHALLENGE

9x10.25 mixed media collage done today in the midst of our ice storm as I'm thinking of Spring on this first day of January 2015. The bike is cut out and collaged as is the kitty basket.  Also collaged black & white paper (inside pattern envelope a bill came in) under the bike.  Flower pot is drawn in watersoluble colored pencils and is partly that and watercolor.  The first marks were from two teabags you can see above the flowers and below the bike.  Background is watercolor; marks made by rolling two wine corks soaked in paint then stamped their ends.  The ink bicycle was a beginning sketch that did not work.  I've just finished reading two new books this week:  Artist's Journal Workshop by Cathy Johnson and Journal Fodder 365 by Scott and Modler.

Cruisin' cycle

9x12 watercolor on Daler Rowney Langton 140 lb cold press paper, drawn and painted today, an imaginary sunny street scene.  May is National Bicycle month so this one is quite appropriate with its fresh hydrangeas spilling out of a handlebar basket.

Lazy Daze Bicycle

4.25x7 watercolor done a few days ago, an imaginary spring or summer day which we long for now, stuck in the middle of February! The viewer can decide on a story for the painting.  Did someone park their bike for a short hike or a long stroll? Stop to smell the flowers? Chat with a neighbor? Look for photo ops for their next masterpiece? You pick!

Red Bike

11x15 watercolor I started over a week ago and took too long so finally got it done yesterday.  Support used is Italia 140 lb cold press paper with Daniel Smith/American Journey paints.  The red bike belongs to Li Newton of the Bahamas and I changed its setting then added flowers to the basket as well as shutters.

Bike Bouquet

11x15 watercolor, a daily painting, of my old secondhand bicycle and an imaginary basket of assorted flowers in a bouquet just waiting for a ride.  Orange poppies dot the garden landscape on the composition's left.
