Pig Party

Porky - a redone painting

22x15 acrylic and ink over a failed watercolor of watermelons that just did not work. This pig art is featured in Chris Unwin's book The Artistic Touch 5. I took some of the lemon shapes in the watermelon fruit still life and made pig rears as you can see in the background, and also did negative painting where needed. The hardest part was his large head as I wanted some of the watermelon to show yet needed basically one color in the shape. When we raised pigs and hogs on the farm they were often fed watermelons. Muddy Hog #InkTober 2018 day 23

5.5x8 watercolor/ink using Uniball Signa Ultra Micro 207 pen on Strathmore Visual Journal for mixed media done today for day 23 of annual #InkTober challenge.  Today's prompt was 'muddy', and this hog was perfect for that.  Who hasn't had to slop the pigs during their childhood?!

Piglets

11x15 watercolor on Bienfang 140 lb cold press paper done a few days ago for WetCanvas weekend drawing event.  Host Li Newton provided 16 photos and we had a 2 hour time limit to choose, draw, and complete a painting.  This was finished in about 1.5 hours.  I love the one piglet in their food bowl not letting the others eat; he was 'hogging' it to pig out for lunch.

Sausage Patty

12x9 watercolor of the other white meat in its daffodil environment, a whimsical work that usually gets me smiling.  Usually after doing a tight realistic painting I will do a fun one such as this imaginary scene on Strathmore paper.  I used Daniel Smith paints.

The hardest part was his large head as I wanted some of the watermelon to show yet needed basically one color in the shape.  On the farm, we used to feed the pigs watermelon so this just fit the bill.

Piggin' Out on Lime Snowcones

8.5x11 colored pencil on Bienfang 50 lb paper of three pigs who had been caught eating snowcones and the far right guy had too many lime flavored ones.
