Dark Red Orchids

6x4 alcohol inks on glossy white photo paper done a few days ago, playing around with some of my darker red inks.  The blue background I began with was not working out so light green was added, then the red for orchid blooms.

Underwater Orchids

5.5x9 alcohol inks on Yupo synthetic paper using only 3 colors:  yellow, aqua, and pink.  With these primaries many organic forms emerged that reminded me of orchids beneath water.  Inks are by Tim Holtz, Ranger Adirondack brand.

Woodland Orchids

11x7.5 watercolor on 140 lb cold press paper, some colorful negative painting resembling orchids.  Look closely to see many layers of light and dark leaves and stems.

Just Orchids

22x15 watercolor of several pale green and pink orchid blooms on their tall and curvy stems.  This was painted a few years ago and was SOLD at its first exhibition.

Moth Orchids - phalaenopsis

15x11 watercolor on Arches 140 lb hot press paper of white moth orchids against a splashy abstract background.  I tried to incorporate stems and petals into the direct washes or just a suggestion of those forms.

Back to Florals with a Bouquet
