Beachfront Property
21.75 x 16.5 watercolor on Italia 140 lb soft press paper. This is a crop from a horizontal beach seascape with major elements rearranged, such as removing the picket fence that went straight across, parallel to the bottom, a compositional no-no! The scene had brush, grass, and branches throughout so those were edited and omitted. Now the viewer can walk in and go towards the next dune, the water, or the houses distant upper left. All I drew with pencil were the houses and large foliage upper right; all else is done with a brush. Sure wish I was there on this beachfront property.

Beach Friends
4.5x6.75 watercolor on Bienfang 140 lb cold press paper painted today for an online challenge with WetCanvas. I liked the greenish hue of the tide waters rolling in and the dark green hat the woman on the right was wearing. A challenge for me was to make her white clothing show skin.

Shoreline Kitty Hawk NC
15x11 watercolor on Canson 140 lb paper, done today BRUSH ONLY no pencil of the Kitty Hawk beach in North Carolina, a place that was magical. I cropped out the waterfront houses and stretched out the shoreline in this vertical landscape, so appropriate to paint on a day of icy sleet and cold north wind.

Beach Bums
11x15 watercolor completed yesterday having begun in David Savellano's Dallas workshop on Nov.12-14. With this scene, we had to only use 3 shapes: Sky, land mass, sea and beach. Figures were made with tiny bits of torn masking tape stuck to dry paper before pigments added. All was done within 30 minutes, an imaginary scene that is calming to look at.
