Cosmos Afternoon ~ Demo Acrylic Inks

8.5x11 acrylic inks floral on watercolor paper done this afternoon as a demonstration for Odessa Art Association.  I have used the same pink cosmos photo and edited out other blooms in it to focus on one large flower and several supporting new ones.  This paint dries almost immediately and it is a slightly opaque look compared to transparent watercolors.

July Cosmos

12x9 watercolor on Canson 140 lb cold press paper done yesterday for the 4th of July.  Painted over an ink line done with Pigma Micron 01 pen, this flower appears more pink here than red.  Brief text on right side was added at the end when dry after painting very wetly.

Early Spring Cosmos

6x4 watercolor on 140 lb cold press Canson paper painted yesterday.  Drawn from life using silk cosmos these blooms herald an early spring.  Shades of pinks, dark maroon, and white grace the fragile petals as they sway in an imaginary wind.

Cosmos Clouds

15x22 watercolor on Saunders 300 lb cold press paper finished yesterday, one drawn from silk cosmos that I've used for floral still life before.  On the reverse side is a white duck swimming that I will post soon so whoever purchases the cosmos gets a freebie or vice versa.

Cosmos Confetti

11x15 watercolor on Bienfang 140 lb cold press paper drawn yesterday starting with the cosmos centre and few greens, then finished today.  I used a #12 round Escoda brush from Cheap Joe's that is rapidly becoming a favorite.  It makes a very sharp line with its tip. These pink cosmos were part of my studio garden about 6 years ago and I took tons of photos to use later.  For this painting, three different images were combined.  I really like the withered bloom lower left and new one about to open on the right lower side.  Background is totally imaginary.
