4x6 watercolor and white gouache done last week over a magazine card from New Mexico publication. This old fellow lives north of Lamesa, TX on the Stevens place. When we drive by he is usually resting like this and was when I shot the photo a few years ago. Now he has another longhorn for company there.

Cute Chickadee
4.25x7 watercolor on a Birds & Blooms magazine subscription card done this past weekend in the cold, snowy mountains. The snow and pine tree needles and branches are imaginary.

Owl Eye
4.25x7 watercolor and ink done today using Pigma Micron 01 pen on a magazine subscription card from Birds & Blooms. The black horizontal bars beneath the postage area seem to fit right into his brownish black feather markings. The wise one is seeing it all.

Artistic Cows
3.5x6 watercolor and ink on The Artist's Magazine insert card done today quickly as I had to get ready for our local art show. These two Holstein cows are peacefully grazing and gazing at the farm. A Micron 01 pen was used to sketch them.

Pastel Pink Geraniums
6x4 pastels over watercolor, brush only, done today from life. I used a variegated geranium for the two shades of pink, blocking all shapes in with #10 round brush, then covering with pale washes. When dry, Caran D'Ache watersoluble wax pastels were applied to this floral on a Pastel Journal magazine card. No water was put on the final pastel layer.

Fun Flamingo
4.25x6 acrylics on paper, another magazine insert card from Acrylic Artist. This is today's work, a close up view of a lovely pale pinkish orange bird. Sketched in pencil first, this fellow was a fast study of contrasts with its black tipped beak, beady eye, and soft fluffy feathers.
