Winter Birch and Cardinal

Two Story White House

8x6 watercolor on paper done yesterday over a pencil sketch for a timed online weekend drawing event on WetCanvas. I have not done a house portrait in awhile so this was fun (no ruler). Harvest Hay Wagon

15x22 watercolor on Arches 140 lb cold press paper, painted wet in wet from a photo taken in Midland at Alldredge Gardens. Trying to be loose and a bit abstract, I put in fresh hot colors on the cool wet paper, let blend, then finished the haystalks around the fat pumpkins. COPYRIGHT 2020 Kay Smith

Harvest Wagon

5x7 ink on Bristol board using a black Tombow brush pen and water for a 3 value sketch showing a wagon, pumpkins, and hay scene from one of my harvest photos. Tom Cat and Leaves

5x9 watercolor on Fluid 140 lb cold press paper sketched yesterday and painted today.  The tom cat photo was provided by fellow artist Dewi in Thailand and I've added my own fall leaves and elongated shadows. In the photo the fellow had only half his tail so with artistic license I've given him his lovely tail back.

Fall Aspen Color

12x6 watercolor on Strathmore 140 lb paper painted yesterday while in the mountains. In this imaginary scene the tall trees tell us that fall color is here to be savored and sampled until the first frost. Embrace autumn for nature's plentiful palette!

Autumn Leaves and Grapes

15x11 watercolor, Daniel Smith paints, lots of negative painting with no pencil drawing only layering of colors: Quinacridone gold, burnt orange, magenta, violet, coral, Ultramarine blue, mauve, and aureolin. I used a small palette knife to make branch lines across the composition.
