Cottage Garden

15x22 watercolor on 140 lb cold press Saunders paper, an imaginary garden scene with its varied shadows and secrets. I first painted this in 2002 in a wet in wet manner so here it is again just in time for spring planting. It has shutters, picket fence, and hanging baskets, all that anyone needs. Bird Neighborhood

15x11 watercolor, brush only, on Canson 140 lb cold press paper done today, another total imaginary scene.  The faded pink birdhouse is from one of my travels as are the goldfinch, hummingbird, and blackcapped chickadee inside.  Foliage and picket fence also are made up so hope the bird neighborhood is believable.  I do think my hummer is too large but it will have to do for now.  These three birds are anticipating Spring!

Bluebird and Daisies

22x10 watercolor painted today, a nature scene with manmade old wooden picket fence posts and cheerful daisies.  I love to paint these garden imaginary set ups.  The bluebird is surveying his surroundings as he starts his summer day.  Support used is Lanaquarelle 140 lb hot press paper.

Gardening

18.5x14.75 watercolor and colored pencils on 140 lb cold press Arches paper, a very old totally imaginary work dated 1996.  Colors were splashed on for an underpainting, let dry, then negative shapes carved out first for a female figure, then picket fence posts, pots and flowers.  There's no rhyme or reason here as I did not know design/composition.  I had it on consignment with Ellen Barefoot in a downtown Big Spring antique store; they closed years ago and she forgot it until recently and returned it.

Thru the Fence

5x9 watercolor on Strathmore 140 lb cold press paper with Daniel Smith paints, done yesterday afternoon.  There's something about old fences with vines and flowers poking thru that says country subject to me worth painting.

Bird Hunting

22x15 watercolor on Arches 140 lb hot press paper of our old cat Bootsie who lived to be 17. Last year we had to say goodbye to him as his bird hunting days were coming to a close.

Morning Bliss

15x22 inches watercolor painted this past weekend on Italia paper from an old drawing. First version was in reverse and morning glory blooms were in blues. This one is SOLD.
