Goat Group

6.5x9 watercolor on Canson 140 lb cold press paper painted today wet on dry, using my 2008 goat reference Tombow brush pen ink sketch. After I did a loose pencil drawing colors were laid in using a #6 round synthetic brush, darks first, then medium tones, then white of the paper in this barnyard vignette. COPYRIGHT 2022 Kay Smith

Kids Zone

7x10 mixed media on Canson paper using pencil, Derwent Inktense, watercolor, and Conte' Pastels. These four young goats are a detail from a larger photo featuring many more, courtesy Oty/WetCanvas! I added a tail on the left kid and changed the background and foreground into a vignette.

Baby Sister Goats

7x9.5 watercolor/ink (Uniball Signo ultramicro 207pen) sketched last night in about 10 minutes and painted today. These sister goats were too sweet to pass up as one of the WetCanvas weekend drawing event references.  This is done in my Ecosystem sketchbook.

Goats Galore ~ day 28 of 30 paintings in 30 days challenge

8.5x5.5 watercolor and ink line on Bienfang for mixed media sketchbook done for day # 28 of Leslie Saeta's challenge she hosts twice yearly; two days left to go.  This goat herd seems to be having more fun than a barrel of monkeys holding a pose for the camera.

Got My Goat

18x24 watercolor on Canson 140 lb cold press paper drawn yesterday and painted today of this curious goat sticking his head out of old farm building and pen.  I featured it on the WetCanvas Animal & Wildlife forum for our May challenge, courtesy of Morguefile.  I used Daniel Smith and American Journey paints, wet on dry, and used lots of drybrush technique for the old textured wood.
