7.5x11 watercolor using all the blues in my palette: UB, Prussian, Midnight, cobalt, cobalt teal blue, Antwerp, manganese, peacock, ultramarine turquoise, periwinkle, cerulean, verditer, moonglow and carbazole violet. I used a black and white printed ref courtesy WetCanvas Weekend Drawing Event (Li Newton). The challenge was to use only blues. Support is Fabriano 140 lb rough paper. This work is SOLD. Flamingo Friends

20x30 watercolor on Strathmore 500 series heavy wt. plate illustration board painted today in about 2 hours 25 minutes as part of WetCanvas! weekend drawing event.  I had not worked on IB in many years and it was quite fun, different from Yupo but still allowing for looseness and depicting these water birds in watercolor.

Bermuda Brunch

15x22 watercolor on Saunders 140 lb cold press paper, Daniel Smith paints of a brunch table setting in Bermuda.  After painting this best of show winner I sold it to some of our dear friends a few years ago.  All the lines and keeping whites pure was a real challenge in this ocean side still life.
