Wistful Stray Kitty

6x6 watercolor on Kilimanjaro 140 lb cold press paper painted again after another version a few years ago. I love this kitty's golden eyes so translucent and her bright pink interior ear. The look in her eyes may be saying 'adopt me' or 'when is my next meal?' Background is a mix of two opaques (they say never to mix more than one) Payne's Grey and Blue Bice which is a nice cool and soft tone to contrast with the golden colors in the cat's fur and eyes. Purple Collar Cat

11x15 watercolor on 140 lb cold press Canson paper done last week.  Using no color reference I attempted to paint my grey tabby cat Chuy.  This was done very quickly with a large #28 round brush and a smaller #10 for his yellow green eyes, nose a other details.  The splatter when finished actually dropped a heart shape in red on the metal heart on the purple collar.

Politician Cats

22x15 watercolor of 8 different cats who reminded me of politicians, hence its title.  Some are asleep and oblivious, others chewing on everything, one hiding, one sinking maybe drowning (Obama), one cunning and crafty calico, one smirking, and my favorite is the pale tabby licking his chops and winking.  Too funny for words.

Togetherness - Puppy & kitty love

7x10 watercolor done today from one of my daily sketches last month.  An underpainting was done first using primaries.  I did not have a photo reference so this is winging it for the cute yellow labrador who thinks he's found his next true love.  Kitty, however, is not liking being pawed.  Forbidden love is what it is right now.  So have a happy Valentine's Day all you lovers out there! Practice some togetherness!
