Two Lab Puppies ~ National Dog Day!

8x8 watercolor on Italia 140 lb. cold press paper done this afternoon for National Dog Day.  These were in my animal photos from the 90s but never painted.  The yellow lab and the black lab were playing in the autumn or fall leaves.  A good image to paint on a day it is 111 F. outside.  So hurry up and change seasons!

22x15 watercolor on 140 lb smooth/soft press paper painted a few years ago of an imaginary yellow lab puppy playing in a flowerbed of lilies.  Splattering was done when dry.  Paints used are Daniel Smith and DaVinci.

Labs Playing Fetch

6x6 watercolor and ink wash drawn yesterday and painted today of fellow artist EP's labradors playing fetch in the water, splashing about as they have fun with an old chewed up stick.

Togetherness - Puppy & kitty love

7x10 watercolor done today from one of my daily sketches last month.  An underpainting was done first using primaries.  I did not have a photo reference so this is winging it for the cute yellow labrador who thinks he's found his next true love.  Kitty, however, is not liking being pawed.  Forbidden love is what it is right now.  So have a happy Valentine's Day all you lovers out there! Practice some togetherness!

Christmas Card a Day: Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

7.5x11 watercolor painted this afternoon for my card-a-day project. The wall behind my neighbor's yellow lab is more light green than shows here. With his red cushion in front of the green wall he is ready for holiday company.
