Fat Redbreasted Robin

8x8 acrylics on gessoed foam core board done today, modeling the fat robin after ones in the front yard with spring tree blossoms. I used a lavender sky rather than the pale brown blowing sand we are used to seeing. A filbert #8 was used to paint this. COPYRIGHT 2021 Kay Smith

Watchful Eye Bird

6x9 acrylics on Canson 140 lb cold press paper painted yesterday as part of exploration of acrylics used as watercolor.  Painted wet on dry, this bird was sketched previously but not painted.  I used a #14 round.  When dry, splatters were put on over the background.  I'll use the sketch again to do another version.

Spring Sparrows - demo

11.75x15.5 acrylics demo on gessoed matboard done today for Midland Palette Club; photo courtesy Mike Beckett/WetCanvas!
Mike featured the photo and we had 2 hours to paint.  But this morning I had about that much time and didn't get through.  This afternoon I worked on it again.  We are so ready for Spring! It was a nice sunny day in the Permian Basin.
