Summer Fieldscape

6x12 watercolor on Strathmore 140 lb cold press paper, a quick demo done on March 2 for the Brownfield Art Association. I partly wet the sky area then laid in ultramarine blue, continuing on down to put in indigo blue then the golds and yellows for foreground. A nice summer field or fieldscape with no pencil drawing needed. Exercises such as this needs no reference photo and are good to get you into the mood for painting and for spring or summer. Daffodils for First Day of Spring

11x15 watercolor of naturalized daffodils enjoying the early spring sunshine and blue sky.  This is painted on Italia 140 lb cold press paper wet on dry with negative painting for stems and foliage.  Happy first day of the spring season 2020!

Tree at Sunset

5.5x7.5 acrylics on gessoed 140 lb cold press paper done week before last at Bob Burridge's workshop in Lubbock, TX.  Bob was showing us various types of design for landscapes done with only one color or two over an orangey background.  These were painted very quickly within minutes.

The Blue Beyond

5x7 alcohol inks on Yupo synthetic paper done today.  Not having much time today I got three colors of inks out and the small Yupo.  Using Willow, Honeycomb, and Indigo I created this abstract landscape with several layers of blown color.  Canned air is much faster to push the ink around than using a drinking straw.

Silvereye Bird

5.75x9 watercolor on Canson 140 lb cold press paper done a few days ago as part of our monthly Watermedia forum challenge on WetCanvas as hosted by Sonia.  I added more leaves and vivid background using opaques Blue Bice and Periwinklw (American Journey paints).
