Daffodil Delight

10x11 watercolor and Brusho on Masters 140 lb cold press paper done today for a timed WetCanvas event. An underpainting of cerulean, arylide yellow, and permanent rose was placed on the paper with a 1" flat brush after it was wet. When dry I developed the daffodil's center with arylide and gamboge, then painted shadows on its white petals. Lastly, the background was applied using quinacridone gold, indigo, ultramarine blue, permanent rose. COPYRIGHT 2021 Kay Smith

Another Spring Flower

18x18 watercolor on Canson 140 lb cold press block painted in about 2 hours.  I used DaVinci, Daniel Smith, and American Journey paints and it is SOLD.  It is my favorite floral daffodil painting and I'm glad another artist owns it.

Daffodil Days

9x4.75 watercolor on Canson 140 lb cold press paper begun Saturday night then more done yesterday. I could not make up my mind about adding background color so have left it white for now.  The bloom's stem is out of the picture plane for a bit of tension, having the flower front and foremost in this imaginary floral.
