Pink Cosmos and Bee

Cosmos Coneflower Confetti ~ Happy New Year!

Glowing Cosmos

Coneflower Cosmos Crazy

Cosmos Crazy
4x3.5 mixed media on 140 lb. cold press paper done last week. In this imaginary floral, I used alcohol inks (first layer as a pulled print), watercolor, acrylics, and gouache. Cosmos are an all time favorite flower to depict in any media.

Bouquet in Black Vase
8x8 mixed media on paper done today over previous alcohol inks using pink, blue, and yellow making an abstract. I used a 1" flat sponge brush to create flowers with acrylics. Most of the fuchsia pink is what is left of the inks.

Cosmos Field
5.25x8.25 watercolor done in my grunge/junk journal today, a vintage 1950 book, over gesso on part of the page. I used two of my cosmos photos from 2009 and combined the white flowers with the others. Although a small format this one really packs a Spring punch as it arrives day after tomorrow.

Arches 140 lb cold press paper. I had taken this collection of Spring coneflowers and cosmos from my multiple garden photos to design it in this horizontal format. It is done wet on dry method with Daniel
Smith paints. A soft background underpainting shows yellows and pale peach colors.

Ruidoso Cosmos
5x7 watercolor on 140 lb hot press paper, a composition of several pink and white cosmos photos taken last weekend. I found a large and lovely flowerbed at one of Ruidoso's lumberyard/hardware stores (Foxworth Galbraith) where lots of varieties were growing.

Cosmos on a Card - #InkTober

Spring's in the Air - watercolor demo today
15x11 watercolor on Arches 140 lb cold press paper, a vignette of imaginary spring blooms, watercan, and little hummingbird. Today I took off work and did the Snyder, Texas Palette Club program, held at their airport. It was loads of fun on a bright and sunny spring day!

Garden Friends
10x7 watercolor on Langton 140 lb cold press paper of various garden items and freshly cut flowers in my old metal pail. Due to little rain this spring we had hardly any flowers to look at. Here I've added imaginary cosmos, poppies, larkspur, etc., all sitting on worn out wooden folding chair. This work is now SOLD.

Cosmos and Coneflowers
10x30 watercolor floral to perk up the dreariest of days. This is on Arches 140 lb cold press paper and is done wet on dry method with Daniel Smith paints. With all the snow scenes I've been doing lately it was time to change to a bright happy floral. Tomorrow I will return to Christmas and winter themed art, so stay tuned.
