May Cosmos
7x5 watercolor on Fabriano 140 lb cold press paper done a few days ago of a single cosmos. It was one of many growing in the flowerbed several years back before grass took over. I've put a warm background behind the delicate flower and its leaves.

Cosmos Clouds
15x22 watercolor on Saunders 300 lb cold press paper;
one drawn from silk cosmos that I've used for floral still life
before. On the reverse side is a white duck swimming that I will post
soon so whoever purchases the cosmos gets a freebie or vice versa.

Cosmos Field
5.25x8.25 watercolor done in my grunge/junk journal today, a vintage 1950 book, over gesso on part of the page. I used two of my cosmos photos from 2009 and combined the white flowers with the others. Although a small format this one really packs a Spring punch as it arrives day after tomorrow.

Early Spring Cosmos
6x4 watercolor on 140 lb cold press Canson paper painted yesterday. Drawn from life using silk cosmos these blooms herald an early spring. Shades of pinks, dark maroon, and white grace the fragile petals as they sway in an imaginary wind.

White Cosmos WIP
12x9 watercolor work in progress or WIP, on 140 lb cold press paper, a new support I bought last week in Florida at Michael's arts and crafts store. These three freehanded cosmos blooms are from my own studio flowerbeds that were so lovely before the drought. Now all that I can get are a few roses and hollyhocks. The fun in rendering white subjects is all the unexplored color nuances within each shape that the artist can hunt for then paint. Stay tuned for the finish!

Cosmos Charm

I drew this from silk cosmos in a vase from Petals, a floral supply company whom I don't think is in business anymore, and painted as an online demo about 2 years ago.
