Flag Day!

15x11 watercolor on 140 lb cold press paper depicting our USA flag flying in a gentle mountain breeze.  I took the reference photo at Alto Lakes, New Mexico at the Century 21 office.  With a large pot of red geraniums this was painted 10 years ago.  No matter what name is used to describe it, Old Glory, Stars & Stripes, the Red, White & Blue, the American flag still proudly waves over this land.

Memorial Day - Remembering Our Soldiers

6x6 watercolor and ink line on paper of two men folding US flag carefully, remembering the fallen soldiers, the ones who never came home from battlefields near and far.  God bless them for their ultimate sacrifices for our freedom.  Never forget that freedom is not free. Take time today to pray for the soldiers and their families serving our country.

Christmas Lamp Post

10.25x9 watercolor and ink line on paper, a festive lamp post with its Christmas red fancy bow trails and blows in the town wind.  Only the flag across the way waves higher and more majestic in anticipation of the season.  Uniball pen and Daniel Smith watercolors were used in this urban cityscape.

Old Town Spring, Texas HAPPY 4th of JULY!

8x5.5 watercolor drawn weeks ago after my trip to Spring, TX to take a Houston workshop.  Vernita Bridges Hoyt and I were touring the old town area when I took the photo that inspired this ink drawing (with Pigma Micron 01 pen on Strathmore Visual Journal).
I did leave out some extraneous details which did not enhance the final structures.  The piece has a vertical line dominance.  Old Glory is waving proud and free.  God Bless America! Happy 4th of July Independence Day 2013!

Independence Day

15x11 watercolor on Saunders 140 lb cold press paper from my photo taken over the 4th July weekend at Century21, Alto, New Mexico. With Old Glory draping the deck scene and a pot of red geraniums cheering it on, the nice sunny day says "Let Freedom Ring!"
I used #28 round brush with NO pencil drawing, simply getting what I wanted to say said in one go.
