Southwestern Afternoon

22x15 watercolor on Langton Prestige 140 lb cold press paper by Daler Rowney done mid-January, a still life I set up years ago. That first version was on a full sheet 30x22 and sold at its first show in west Texas. It has always been a favorite. COPYRIGHT Kay Smith 2026

Red Hots

30x22 watercolor on 140 lb hot press paper, an earlier southwestern image from one of my photos taken at a Ruidoso Downs private home, a stucco wall with a chile ristra hanging in the sun. Coated with white gesso, the paints went on smoothly allowing for lots of texture. Painted in 2005, this image was featured in Southwest Art magazine the following year. I may paint the old wall again as Red Hots was sold. COPYRIGHT 2005 Kay Smith
