High Steps Villa
9x7 watercolor of an imaginary villa somewhere in Europe or Mexico. This is in my sketchbook 80 lb paper. These high steps lead to a doorway one can only think of what is going on inside a southwest style abode.

Iglesia San Jose
11x15 watercolor on Canson 140 lb cold press paper painted today. I dressed it up the old church w/ Mexico's tradition of burning the bad. They make a list annually of the things they don't want in their lives anymore and on New Year's the list is burned so as to start fresh without anything in their way. What a good idea!

Mission Carmel
16x20 watercolor on Arches 140 lb cold press paper done today for the current WetCanvas weekend drawing event, hosted by Lyndylu. With this southwestern scene I hoped to portray the hot sunny climate and plants as it really is, and enjoyed the roof shadows running at a diagonal in lower foreground. Its proper name is Mission San Carlos Borromeo del río Carmelo.
