This watercolor is 1/4 sheet, which in our lingo is one fourth of a full sheet measuring 22x30 inches. I drew this scene while in the New Mexico mountains on Friday. Lots of harvest ideas and decorations are out in town now and painting crows is total fun. Nobody likes them. They are black, though, and add a nice punch to the imaginary scene and pumpkin field...or I could've added black cats but that would be too Hallowe'en-ish.

What a happy "welcome to fall" painting, Kay. And, I do happen to like crows. The hawks give them a fit around here and I don't even mind their loud voices. We actually have a large rookery in the woods east of us and you should hear them in the late evenings!!!
I love it, too, Kay! I really love everything you do. Your use of watercolor is so fresh and spontaneous and joyful. Good Work!
Hi Kay, I'm glad to see your blog; cool! I always enjoy your colors. The crows are wonderful. Where in New Mexico were you, if you don't mind? I grew up in New Mexico and it's a fun place to be in the fall!
Thanks Mollie, Nita, and Peggy. We have a small place in Ruidoso, Peggy, and totally love NM. Where did you grow up?
Ruidoso is beautiful this time of year. I associate apples and the smell of roasting chilies with that area. I grew up in the Silver City area of New Mexico. All my family has left Silver City, but most remain in New Mexico. I'm the only Northwesterner. I love to visit!
