October Gargoyle

6x8.5 watercolor on pale yellow ColorSketch paper with a background wash underpainting first of various neutral palette 'mud'...worked from a black and white photo copy only to try and get the values just right.  Paints used:  Ultramarine blue, raw umber, sepia, quinacridone burnt orange and gold.  Today's work is the current monthly challenge on the watercolor studio forum of WetCanvas; photo courtesy of Doug Elliot (administrator).  Who doesn't love a gargoyle in October? These scary icons of architecture always amaze me.
