Butterfly Zinnia Garden

Beach Bottle

Lost Bulldog

Wacky Flower

5x7 mixed media on Canson 140 lb cold press paper done on Monday this week. I used watercolor, colored pencils (sanded into wet wash), and black India ink when dry. A large blob of carmine by Daniel Smith was put down along with other analogous colors, then blown with a large drinking straw to create runny lines of paint. COPYRIGHT Kay Smith 2021

Backyard Hummingbird

Blown Poppy

Twilight in the City

I first painted it in watercolor and was not reading right so put mostly white, peach, blue and pale yellow gouache washes over it. Highlights are the street lights glow and reflections. Shorthorn Skull

12x9 ink on Bristol 300 series, 100 lb. paper done over the weekend. No pencil sketch only used a black Tombow brush pen (watersoluble), then water to activate black to gray tones. When dry, black India ink with a chopstick was applied to emphasize darkest darks and create texture marks. Blue watercolor was spritzed over it all to finish. COPYRIGHT 2021 Kay Smith
