Pig Party
6x6.25 watercolor on 140 lb cold press paper done over the past weekend (ref courtesy WetCanvas) on a piece of a painting I'd cut up. The old painting was pink square tiles in a still life. Pigs look fun in the mud with the pink colors.

Heehaw Donkeys
12x9 watercolor on Bristol 300 series 100 lb paper done last month, another donkey painting in my series using my older photos from a farm south of town. They seem to be saying HeeHaw! as loud as possible and are such clowns of the animal world.

Follow the Leader
9x12 watercolor on Langton 140 lb cold press paper. These three pintos were one of many horses featured on WetCanvas in the Southwest/Western forum and ref courtesy Maria in Dallas. In the photo (I used a black & white copy) the sky was virtually pale and clear, so I added a thunderstorm and clouds. Maybe this will make it rain.

Holstein Barn
11.75x8.25 watercolor on Fabriano 140 lb cold press rough paper, done over the last weekend as part of another online challenge with WetCanvas. We had two hours to choose and render an image so the cows spoke to me in their corner of the barn.

Donkey Party
15x22 watercolor on Kilimanjaro 140 lb cold press paper done last month or so of a trio of donkeys. I photographed them in a field north of Vealmoor and south of our farm years ago and this is the third time for me to paint them. The other two versions have gone to new owners and colors were changed. As they were in a field there was no interesting background so here I added a long horizontal stucco building reminiscent of the southwest. This new painting has been entered in the current Wyoming Watercolor Society exhibit so it is not priced on Daily Painters for availability.

Brown Calf and Cow
5x7 ink sketch on Bristol cropped at that size on a 9x12 sheet. Tombow black brush pen was used to put in darks first followed by a rigger brush dipped in water to make the grey areas; white is the white of the paper. I loved the long cast shadows the cattle made in my original photograph.
