Garden Radishes ~ National Color Day

6.25x4.25 watercolor painted recently, fresh out of another artist's garden, complete with its soil as they lay on old wooden top.  As it is National Color Day, how about some red and green?!

Onions and Garlic

9x12 watercolor on Canson 140 lb cold press paper sketched yesterday in under 10 minutes then painted in 45 minutes for this interesting still life. Love to cook with both these vegetables so was a thrill to paint them together.  This was featured on this weekend's drawing event on WetCanvas.

Shallots

8.5x5.5 watercolor and ink line using Micron 01 pen on Bienfang for mixed media sketchbook done last weekend.  A full ink sketch was done first then color added later for some drama amongst the onion stems.

Beets Me!

5.5x8 watercolor and ink on Strathmore Visual Journal for mixed media.  Over the weekend I drew these beets with black Uniball pen then added paint.  I detest beets but thought if I tried to make this root vegetable attractive then might just eat the jar of freshly canned ones my sister-in-law gave us...may taste better than commercially available beets.  They're very nutritious, too.

Canning Tomatoes

9x12 watercolor and ink on Bristol 400 series paper/Micron 05 pen finished today, a country still life of Ball canning jars and fresh tomatoes.  This common imaginary scene will bring back memories for some when times were simpler and summer was longer.

Fresh Onions

6x12 watercolor on Strathmore 140 lb cold press paper, painted today using Daniel Smith paints:  Quinacridone gold/burnt orange/magenta, transparent pyrrol orange, aureolin, UB, alizarin crimson, green gold; American Journey Blue Bice.  Drawn from a fresh bunch of garden onions, this simple vegetable still life in secondary colors might make you hungry!
