Black-Capped Chickadee on Sunflower

6x12 watercolor on Strathmore 140 lb cold press paper done today from a compilation of my nature and bird photos. Maybe I'm wishing for autumn or fall to hurry up and get here with some cooler temps. Earth Day ~ A Common Chipping Sparrow

For earth day this sparrow was perfect at 8x5.5 watercolor on Strathmore Visual Journal.  A pencil drawing was done lightly to mark outlines then watercolor put in over areas wet with #8, #10 round brushes.  A fairly limited palette used of ultramarine and Prussian blues, quinacridones burnt orange and gold, Bice and Periwinkle blues (American Journey).  When dry I used small amounts of white and Coastal Fog (AJ) on the sparrow's breast.  Background is loose and abstract with diagonal lines indicative of branches or twigs; splattering with Blue Bice applied when dry.

Bluetit Bird

14.75x11 watercolor on Kilimanjaro 140 lb cold press paper completed today for another online challenge re wildlife.  This little bluetit is taking himself a little sip of cool water in his birdbath.

Rocking Robin

11x15 watercolor on 140 lb cold press paper drawn and painted today quickly as didn't have much time. Background is loosely done with indigo, green gold, aureolin, and ultramarine blue while the red breasted robin gets ready to rock his latest song in this imaginary nature scene.
