Beverly ~ a mixed media figure
Beverly ~ a mixed media figure
22x15 charcoal drawn figure on 140 lb hot press Fabriano paper with gouache paint and Caran D'Ache crayon accents. Paper was prepared by adhering old phone book pages with half matte medium and half water then pulling off leaving parts of the Fabriano visible.
This woman was at a neighborhood hat party years ago and had her eyes closed while talking. Background elements are imaginary abstractions. This one was in one of the watercolor societies annual shows.

Fortune Teller
9.5x7 mixed media in Ecosystem sketchbook done over this past weekend for another drawing event on WetCanvas; photo courtesy Li Newton. To me, this Tainos woman looked as if she'd like to rob someone or cast a spell. Or maybe she was just tired of tourists. The double ring in her nose was heavy and pulled it down. I used Micron 01 pen to sketch, then watercolor, colored markers, white gouache, and white oil pastels.
