Happy 250th Birthday America!

9x12 watercolor still life I set up then photographed of a ripe red one on white paper plates complete with spoon, salt and pepper although we never use seasoning. All is sitting on lightweight bamboo lap tray. In the photo, I had a newspaper with July 4th ads showing underneath, but when painting decided to eliminate text and just put in dark blue lines. Maybe now it is a tablecloth! I cut this melon up and served with balsamic vinegar/blood orange sprinkled with feta cheese. Note the melon's reflections in the silver spoon. Happy 250th America!!! White Kitchen and Watermelon

22x15 watercolor on 140 lb hot press paper done years ago of one of my kitchens that was all in white but the curtains and chair seats.
The red watermelon and yellow gold flowers were touches of color added to make the interior summer day still life more interesting.
This painting is SOLD.

Summer on a Fork - daily painting

8.5x11 watercolor beach scene/still life combo dreamed up by me who is so desperate to see water, any kind of water and the ocean looks pretty inviting even if it isn't real.  Here the sand stops the tide as the eye seeks the horizon where sea meets sky.  Meanwhile a red melon is being devoured by someone enjoying their summer.  Please send rain to West Texas!!!

Pick Your Own-Watermelon torn paper collage

Finished!!! After 6 more hours today and messy fingers it is finally done. I hope it reads okay now and values are corrected and shapes simplified...I have a tendency to add detail when painting, so thought it would hold true for collage and yes, it does. Last chore to do was to tear tiny black ovals for seeds and get them adhered to the gloss varnished areas as well as check all 4 edges that they're covered, too. Fork and knife in foreground rest on a white napkin for a little genteel touch in this country still life scene. Total fun and takes many hours but is well worth it! If you have never done this type collage I'd encourage you to try.
