12x5 mixed media collage on gessoed matboard done today, part of my woman series. I began these figures in 2008 that you can see HERE and they quickly were snapped up.
With a charcoal pencil I lightly sketched the woman's shape then put in her dark hair also with charcoal. Diagonal lines of the buildings were next. Watercolor was the main media and collage provided the detailed pattern on the white dress. Her eyes were intentionally left out of the composition. Manganese blue is the sky. Some areas were lifted out and repainted which is easy on any support that has had gesso (white acrylic) applied.

Silhouette - female profile
11x15 watercolor on Fabriano Artistico 140 lb hot press paper done a year ago this month; today took it out and reworked the model's face, edges of hair and dress in warmer colors. Main color added was Daniel Smith's transparent pyrrol orange, a very thin but powerful warm hot orange.

Silhouette
11x15 watercolor on Fabriano 140 lb hot press paper, a backlit woman's silhouette in front of windows. I have used my photo of a mannequin and changed it quite a bit, from red hair to dark brown, and a black fur coat to a sweater with greens, plums, and soft browns.
