'ritaville for National Margarita Day

7.5x11 watercolor, 140 lb cold press paper. I painted this while in Albuquerque in 2009. I used Winsor Newton paper and travel kit. Colors: Cadmium yellow pale, ultramarine blue, yellow ochre, cadmium yellow hue, cobalt blue, burnt sienna, cadmium red pale, sap green, burnt umber, alizarin crimson, and viridian. Since today is National Margarita Day I posted this then ordered a frozen one with lime and a rim of salt along with some hot Tex Mex food. COPYRIGHT Kay Smith

Daisy Petals

8.5x5.5 watercolor and ink line on Masters paper. Using one of my white daisies photos, several were sketched in with Micron 01 pen. These perennials are always such a joy to see come up with the warmth of a pre-Spring sun, through the still cool earth. Old Fashioned Love

7.5x7.5 watercolor,ink and collage elements on Crescent matboard done this afternoon at a paint out. I first placed a heart paper doily from the dollar store on the mat then outlined each space with a 0.3 STA Lictin pen in black. Next cut out rose images from gift wrap and a cocktail napkin and collaged on with glue stick. Center romantic couple was cut out from French toile paper. Next background was colored in using transparent watercolor using a #1 script liner brush; rose shapes began to appear so those were further developed by negative painting. COPYRIGHT 2021 Kay Smith
