Bookworm

11x15 watercolor on 140 lb hot press Lanaquarelle paper done previously of another artist's cat, who had his own shelf at the local library.  A big fluffy longhaired fellow, he seems right at home there with the surrounding books, peace and quiet.  Perfect for a catnap.

Dave the Cat

15x11 watercolor and pastel of Dave, Lin's (of WetCanvas) kitty who lives in the UK, courtesy photo. Included in the current weekend drawing event participants have 2 hours to complete a painting with furnished references, with challenges sometimes added. One of Lin's challenges was to use mixed media so I added pastel accents hoping to catch the disdain on Dave's face along with the haughty grandeur of a tomcat. She had named him after her husband Dave.

Sleepy Calico kitty

4x6 watercolor on a magazine insert card done recently of a sweet calico asleep on her blue blanket.  I tried to use transparent orange and turquoise blue as these are the colors seen most often in New Mexico.

Yarn's for Kittens

6x6 watercolor with Pigma Micron 01 pen on Masters paper, drawn last night and painted this afternoon from old black and white photo of Roger, an orange tabby with white markings. I rescued him and loved him so much but he was so friendly he disappeared, probably into someone's house or car.

Calico Corner - pet portrait

9x12 watercolor on Canson 140 lb cold press paper, drawn yesterday and painted today.  I did do a previous ink sketch using my grey tabby for a model, then changed to a calico for a little more pizzazz.  The background is left loose and abstract garden shapes morph in mixed greens and blues.
