Seedlings

5x7.5 watercolor and ink line on Moleskine sketchbook done yesterday, a garden still life of tools and trays of tomato plants ready to go on a potting table.  Clay pots and garden gloves along with potting soil mix sit prepared to do a season's work.

Child's Garden Chair

19x15 watercolor on Arches 140 lb cold press paper, an antique store find in the middle of my imaginary floral garden.  Dark pink hydrangeas, vinca, petunias, impatiens and others bloom in profusion across the paper.  Three clay pots take up residence in immediate foreground.  This one was finished today after starting last week.

Blood Red Hollyhocks

6 x 10.5 watercolor on 140 lb cold press paper, Daniel Smith/DaVinci paints, done from one of my dark red studio hollyhocks.  I'm having to use photos from a few years back due to no rain this year in spring to cause them to grow and bloom.  I did have one pale yellow plant and one medium pink hollyhock, though, but the roses really suffered.  This work is now SOLD.

Poppified - the Art of Poppies

18x24 watercolor on Canson 140 lb cold press block, Daniel Smith/DaVinci/American Journey paints, done in a direct painting style wetly and quickly.  There are so many ways to paint poppies I never tire of searching for new compositional arrangements.

Tall Hollyhock

6x2 watercolor on 140 lb cold press paper done last month, another vertical painting that can be matted and framed or can be used as a book...
